A stray puppy, injured in a hit-and-run, was left paralyzed in the freezing cold for 12 hours. The puppy, suffering from a broken pelvis, was discovered in a Canadian town in northern Alberta. With temperatures below zero, her chances of survival were slim.
Fortunately, a group of young people discovered the injured puppy and contacted the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) and the animal rescue AB Task Force.
The puppy was alone and freezing for nearly 12 hours before rescuers arrived. Due to her body heat, the snow around her had begun to melt.
Nutmeg, as she was later named, was overjoyed to see her rescuers.
Nutmeg’s broken pelvis must heal within six weeks of strict confinement. AARCS believes this resilient pup deserves endless love, admiration, and plenty of belly rubs.
Here, Nutmeg is shown taking pleasure in some of the affection and treats that she so richly merits.
Once Nutmeg has fully recovered, she will be available for adoption. Visit the AARCS website for more information.
