Many dogs end up in shelters due to heartbreaking circumstances, one of the saddest being the loss of their owner. These animals not only grieve the loss of their best friend but are also uprooted from their familiar home.
One such dog has been in a shelter for over 100 days after the tragic death of its owner, still waiting for a loving family.
Sunny, a two-year-old retriever mix, has been at the Great Plains SPCA in Kansas since July 11th due to tragic circumstances.
“His world was shattered when his owner tragically passed away, leaving him without a home,” the SPCA shared on Facebook.
Sunny’s adoption page reveals that he was deeply loved by his late owner and lived a sheltered life. Losing his beloved owner and adjusting to the overwhelming shelter environment was a significant challenge for him.
However, Sunny has gradually opened up, revealing his cheerful, loving, and innocent nature. He was fostered by a family who described him as a calm, well-behaved dog, but unfortunately, he had to return to the shelter due to a family member’s allergy.
